The remarkable hexagonal shaped timber structure was designed to use sensitive materials and be energy efficient.

In line with the school’s sustainability policy, the building was constructed via a ‘responsible build process’ and with locally sourced Douglas Fir, and a recycled Welsh slate roof.

Working in close liaison with the client team and knowing the budget was tight, Buildwise were able to draw on their experience of previous similar valueengineering projects to ensure no money was wasted whilst not cutting corners on the quality of the final product.

The school had been inspired by HRH Prince Charles’ book ‘Harmony’ which speaks about the philosophy of sustainability and the way nature is all interconnected.
